About Rock Creek |
The team began as the "Foggy Bottom Women” in 1978, but in 1979 split off from the Foggy Bottom Morris Men (our dear friends to this day) and, under the leadership of Mary Chor, became the Rock Creek Morris Women.
The team dances all over the Washington, D.C. area at festivals like the Southern Maryland Celtic Festival, the Washington Folk Festival, the Maryland Sheep and Wool Festival, and the Takoma Park Folk Festival, and through the neighborhoods of D.C. from Adams Morgan to Capitol Hill, by ourselves or with other ritual dance teams of the area. We also regularly wander farther afield, to gatherings of other morris teams called "Ales" in Michigan, Minnesota, Massachusetts, and Ontario, and the team has toured parts of the UK in 1992, 2000, and 2016. Rock Creek celebrated its 40th anniversary in 2019! |
